THOTA in Practice: Launch of a Practical Webinar Series on Live & Swap Organ Donation Documentation

Bengaluru | 22 February 2026

OneIndiaOneLaw.org is pleased to announce the launch of “THOTA in Practice”, a focused and practical learning initiative aimed at strengthening the ethical, transparent, and compliant implementation of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA) across hospitals and transplant centres in India.

The in-person launch event will be held on Sunday, 22 February 2026, in Bengaluru, and marks the beginning of a webinar and capacity-building series dedicated to real-world challenges faced by doctors, transplant coordinators, and authorization committees in live and swap organ donation cases.

Why THOTA in Practice?

Despite the existence of clear legal frameworks, hospitals and professionals often face practical difficulties in documentation, authorization processes, counselling, and coordination during organ transplantation.

THOTA in Practice is designed to bridge this gap by moving beyond theory and focusing on:

  • Day-to-day documentation requirements
  • Interpretation of THOTA rules and amendments
  • Best practices followed by authorization committees
  • Ethical handling of live and swap donation cases
  • Effective patient and family counselling
